NBC's Today Show featured a segment with the first-ever Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities (C.A.M.O.) Winter Women's Mountain Retreat during the 8-9 a.m. hour on January 4.
NBC News Correspondent Kerry Sanders and crew spent several days with the seven participants, all of whom were female wounded warriors with injuries including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), amputations and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Seven servicewomen flew into Aspen/Snowmass from around the country for three days of skiing and a day of relaxation and healing at the Spa of the Rockies in Glenwood Springs. Sanders' story focuses on the empowerment, growth and unique bonds made by injured servicewomen with the help of C.A.M.O. and highlights the background and experiences of three of the servicewomen who attended the retreat. Sanders' story also briefly highlights the national Challenge America initiative, which grew from Challenge Aspen and launched in June 2009.
