And you think you need a vacation?

Ron Weller lost his business from a tornado last year, his son says in a professionally done video submitted to Snowmass Tourism's “You Need a Vacation” competition.

One family of four hasn't had a vacation in eight years, reports a darling little girl named Chloe.

“Sue from the Northwest” desperately needs a break from the dreary weather in Salem, Ore.

Yet the winning video, chosen by online voters, was made by Scott Remington, a 27-year-old student from Flagstaff, Ariz., who vowed to use the trip as an occasion to propose to his longtime girlfriend. Perhaps the least “needy” of the entrants, Remington is the recipient of four nights of lodging and airfare, an “adventure package” and even some spending money.

“I tried to keep winning the contest a secret from her but she became suspicious when I was text messaging and calling all my friends to let them know.

“I just couldn't hold in my excitement. But asking her to marry me in Snowmass will definitely be a huge surprise for her and she will not be expecting this,” Remington said in a statement published recently by Snowmass Tourism, the Town of Snowmass Village's marketing arm.

Contestants were a diverse lot as were their videos and concepts. There was even a political statement in “Snowmass or Bust by Dog Musher Valerie.”

Votes were tallied by Quittle, an Aspen-based mobile marketing company, with the winner receiving the Snowmass 2010 summer vacation, said Snowmass Tourism.
