Now, it's the locals' turn

“Everybody must get trashed” according to Matt Tate, the Executive Director of Trashmasters’ International. “This event is for the locals who really started it all 17 years ago; and, because the big fund-raiser takes place in August, this tournament is for all those dedicated volunteers and others who cannot afford the $2,500 entry fee for Trashmasters I.

The entry fee for Trashmasters II is $150 and includes golf, breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and as always, fabulous schwag,” said Tate.

Everything takes place at The Home of the Trashmasters, The Snowmass Club, with The “Magic of Aloha” party on Thursday evening, Sept. 18, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at The Black Saddle Bar & Grill. World famous magician “Doc” Eason will be performing his slight of hand while Chef Extraordinaire Chris Menard will be serving up his renowned BBQ ribs alongside Mixologist of Margaritas & Mai Tais, Matt Gifford.

The tournament is Friday, Sept. 19, with a continental breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. and the infamous “cannon blast” start signaling the tee off at 10 a.m. The Awards Ceremony and $1,000 putting contest will follow all the action on Friday afternoon.

This year’s special honorees are Julie Fees, who is receiving the “Employee Extraordinaire” Award for her many years at the pro shop and Mark Stout, for his outstanding work as a longtime volunteer.

The Trashmasters playing format rewards the strange and bizarre events as they occur during a round of golf. Proceeds benefit a valley scholarship program for area teens. The sold-out field will vie for the coveted gold jacket in four divisions: men’s, women’s, seniors and championship flights.
