The Snowmass Sun, Snowmass Village's hometown newspaper, was founded in 1978 by Jack Schuss and Dick Slaughter. Their initial investment in the paper was
a modest $27,000! After a series of mom and pop owners, Morris
Communications bought the paper in 1998 before Swift Communications acquired
the Sun two years later.
Every Wednesday, the Sun publishes between 3,200 and 4,000 newspapers,
depending on the season, that are distributed up and down the Roaring Fork
Valley. Breaking news is also captured on the Web site, snowmasssun.com. We
encourage readers to submit photos, story ideas and comments to our newly
enhanced Web site (browse around and see what you can find) or via e-mail to
news@snowmasssun.com.
